Top 3 reasons why protein is good for you

Guys, it’s been a minute. But I’m back to dishing out some sage life advice and sharing some useful little life hacks - starting off with why protein is good for you.

Here at Wildbag we are all about protein (obviously), but not everyone is aware of how good it is for your entire body.  We’ve previously shared the truth about protein on the blog. But, we thought it might be time for a little refresher. So here’s a round up of why getting your daily protein hit is good for you:

  1. Protein is a macronutrient that is an important part of every cell in your body - that’s right, it’s the building block of bones, muscles, cartilage, blood, skin and hair and nails. However, unlike other macronutrients (carbohydrates and lipids) your body doesn’t store protein which means it is important to maintain a regular intake of it.
  2. Protein plays a vital role in the maintenance, development and repair of body tissue - this is why it’s important to have some before or after strenuous exercise.
  3. Your body uses protein to make hormones, enzymes and other body chemicals - so it helps to regulate and protect chemical reactions in the body.

So how can you make sure you’re getting your daily dose of protein so you can keep your body looking and feeling fresh?

Certain foods like eggs, chicken breast, lean beef, milk, cheese and seafood (particularly salmon and tuna) are high in protein. Likewise, for our vegetarian and vegan friends, almonds, lentils, chickpeas, oats, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, sunflower kernels, quinoa, broccoli, Brussels sprouts  and spinach are all great sources of protein.

And of course, Wildbag is a versatile source of protein that you can slip into your post workout smoothie or use to make pancakes, cakes, slices, bliss balls and more (check out our recipes for some serious food inspo).

If you weren’t already on the protein bandwagon with the rest of us wild childs, you should definitely jump on it now. Your body, including your skin, hair and nails will thank you for it!
