Here at Wildbag HQ, we are all about food that looks colourful, tastes amazing and, most importantly, is healthy and helps us to thrive. We recently caught up with the incredibly talented and creative Tasha Meys, the woman behind Tastefully Tash, aka @tastefullytash, and some seriously amazing health food creations (including some of our very own Wildbag recipes), to find out more about what inspired her health journey, who influences her and her life in LA ✌🏼
Tell us about yourself in twenty words or less.
I am a 22 year old Kiwi health food nut/artist/photographer living in LA.
How did the idea for Tastefully Tash come about?
When I went to university I started living an unhealthy life fuelled on fast food and sweets. After being sick of having no energy and always being ill, I started researching nutrition. As I experimented with developing healthy recipes I started an Instagram to post them so everyone could use them. I've always been into art and photography so getting to merge this with my passion for health and wellness for @tastefullytash has been awesome.
What does a typical day look like for you?
At around 5.30am I roll out of bed and bike to the fitness centre I work with in Santa Monica.
On the way home I often stop by wholefoods and get supplies for lunch.
The rest of the day is usually spent working on different projects for clients and shooting content for tastefullytash.
Depending on the day I also enjoy going to different LA events or exploring LA 🙂
Who is your biggest inspiration/influence and why?
I get a lot of inspiration from Instagram. @Talinegabriel and @elsas_wholesome_life are two of my favourite accounts. I love their creative energy they put into their accounts and how they incorporate their travel and lifestyle into them. I am also inspired by my friends and business contacts. Sally O'Neill from @thefitfoodie and Kristina Webb from @colour_me_creative have shown me how to make their passions into amazing careers 🙂
What has been your biggest accomplishment and lesson you have learned to date?
Last year was a whirlwind of excitement for me. I graduated university, moved from NZ to Sydney to LA, started a business, collaborated on 2 books and got to work on incredible campaigns with some of my favourite brands and people.
The lesson I've learnt from all this has literally been to say yes to every opportunities that is scary or intimidating.
Also the power of seeking out connections with like minded people is invaluable. Having friends around you who inspire you is both motivating and fun as you get to help out on each other's dreams while working on your own.
How do you stay wild?
Haha, usually if we go out, it's in Hollywood and ends early so we can make it to Cocowhip before it shuts - Cocowhip is a frozen coconut water ice cream parlour 😁
Your best advice for someone looking to start their own blog?
Start an Instagram to go with it. It directs traffic to your blog and helps you connect with bloggers in the same niche as you.
